Get That Job Interview
Getting noticed by a prospective employer can be done via phone calls. Contact the HR department and inquire about current job openings. If you are told that there are none at this time, ask for the name of the HR manager so you can follow up with him in the future.
Keep good notes on these “feeler” calls for future reference. When you see that an advertisement has run for the job you are interested in, call the HR manager and ask if you can ask some questions about the position and have a couple of things prepared to discuss.
After you ask your questions, request that he schedule you for a job interview. If it is too early in the process, ask if you can call back in one or two weeks to check in with him. Continue to do this until you get the interview or are told that others will be interviewed instead.
Be polite, cordial and friendly, but not a suck up. Just let him know how interested you are, that you would love to work for the company and want to learn all you can about the job.
