Poetic Sunday is Filled with “Fauna”
Fauna
By Therese Haberman
Soft forest moss springs back
Under bare toe treads
Cool dampness blends
Amidst rich herbal aromas
Forming a mystical aura
Alive with cackling sound, muted motion
Dashing creatures cling to deep pine shadows
Fidgety wrens flitter and swoop In primordial patterns
Time passes in the flash of fading embers
Fire dances on a slow burn of memories
Heat from your eyes spikes through me
Sending a lightning surge of rock-hard craving
Into the corners of my willing essence
Seems like only yesterday
Enfolded in sweetness of summer dew
You took me in the deer’s garden
Planting tiny green tendrils of passion
Ripe for your soft mouth nurturing
Ready for a rapturous climb of tempting touches
Deep into the woods of our souls
Opening to the beauty of the late-day forest sky
Distant sounds scatter like a handful of thrown pebbles
Swaying sun sprites tease with glimpses of bare skin
As our private heat builds in long, tender waves
Rising up from our sated bodies in earthbound mist
To evaporate in shining sparkles
On the edge of a fresh breeze
