Here are a collection of tips and thoughts on improving your career prospects now and in the future, in no particular order.

• Plan your career on paper.  Spell out where you would like to be at the end of your career road and the steps along the way that will move you toward your goal.  Revisit this plan every year on New Year’s Day.
• Play well with others.  If you can get along with your work mates, supervisors and everyone up and down the job ladder, you will place yourself among the ranks of the potentially promotable.  To do otherwise by being difficult or too ego driven, will translate into career stagnation.
• Take care of yourself.  This means you stay healthy, get some exercise as part of your schedule and feed your mind with news, literature, training and education.
