Career Ups and Downs

I have only recently embarked on a writing career, having spent about 25 years as a human resources director for several different large companies. I was, therefore, thrilled to receive an email this morning advising me that I am a semi-finalist in a writing contest I entered with a publishing e-magazine.

I realize I may not win, but I have made the top 100 manuscripts and the top 35 will be given distinction in the contest so I am very hopeful for a least an honorable mention.

I am in the process of finishing my first fiction novel and really could use this kind of publicity and credential to present to a potential agent and publisher in the near future. So today I am on an career high. I will know more about the results during the third week of January. Wish me luck!!!
