Happiness on the Job
![]()
Why are there people who are always miserable on the job? They seem to get most of their enjoyment out of complaining and moaning about how unhappy they are and how aweful the company is and so on.
Some of these people are not happy unless they are miserable. The sad truth is that they would be like that no matter where they worked or which profession they latched onto in life.
Don’t be one of them. You need not go around with a smile and a whistle on your lips every day, but you can be satisfied or even happy on the job if you chose to be so. And I cannot say it enough. If you are unhappy in your work, you are or will be unhappy in your life. So, get out of the doldrums and go find yourself something to do that you can enjoy.
So many people join the business world with the hope of climbing the corporate ladder to find that they are on the brink of a high stress mental breakdown. Maybe that corporate executive who is now being laid off from a high level job should have been what he always wanted to be, a college professor, a park ranger or a florist.
It is good to make lots of money, but not at the expense of your health or your self-respect. Money ain’t everything, and piles of money cannot buy you happiness in a miserable, thankless job.
