Because so many employers are using Monster and CareerBuilder for posting jobs, it has become an increasingly more competitive job market for all positions, not just executive level jobs. Traditionally, it was only executive jobs that were part of the national employment marketplace.

One thing you can do is to Google your career position and the industry you want to be in so you can zero in on more select posting systems than the big ones. Sites like Jobs in Logistics hone in on warehouse positions. Snagajob is more for the blue collar job applicant, while Media Bistro covers the publishing industry. Most jobs have a national association you can contact to obtain job sites that are geared to your capabilities and skill set.

The important thing you need in a job search today is a thick skin and a great deal of tenacity. Just don’t give up and you will succeed.
