Holidays are Looming, Be Prepared
I know you all may hate me for bringing this up already, but my children have dubbed me with the grand title “The Illustrious Listress” because I make lists for everything that goes on in my life and theirs as well. I have started the list of Christmas presents and other early holiday preparations lists which involve things like writing out the holiday cards that I bought on sale last year and restocking my wrapping paper supplies.
In my view, it is never too early to start thinking about the holidays, even in a strapped year like this one, with my husband out of work and facing a horribly tight job market. The holidays go on, regardless of what else is happening, frugal though they may be for most of us this time around.
I have decided on a downsized gift plan where I try to stay within a certain dollar amount for each person. I am still planning to have all the usual traditions and holiday meals and all that, but the focus will be on enjoying the fun times together, and not on the presents and commercial aspects of the season. I am hoping that it will be as lovely and enjoyable as ever, as I am making my list and checking it twice.

That’s a good idea limiting to a certain dollar amount. Good tip.
